Recently I’ve been having some very good times with tying people, and today I want to discuss one of the biggest contributing factors to a great rope scene.
MUSIC; and tying to that music.
A couple of years ago, I took up dance (Ceroc) as an additional hobby. That turned out to be a great social hobby in more vanilla contexts, and allowed me to make more friends, and also became a fantastic metaphor for discussing lots of BDSM related things.
In addition to that, over time, I gradually got better at actually moving to music. Keeping in time with the beat, learning to move in such a way that goes with the melody, and using an intensity that matched the theme of the music.
More recently, as I was tying people with music on in the background, I found myself tying in much the same way as I danced.
I’d add a couple of wraps with a tension and intensity that matched the music, and when the music changed to something a bit more sensual and slow, I might take that opportunity to use my rope ends to caress the person I’m tying, or to draw a hand down their skin somewhere sensitive and nice.
So that made tying more fun for me – it basically turned tying into more of a dance, helping me to enjoy the movements even further by syncing them to music, and using the expressiveness of the music to inspire particular kinds of interactions.
And holy hell, did it ever work well for the people I was tying.
I’d been borrowing songs from my friend’s “Sin” playlist to build my own. He, in turn, had borrowed many of them from a strip club where he often holds rope classes.
So there were lots of songs with kind of a sensual, slower throbbing beat, and combined with those sorts of movements, my play partners got both an excellent subspace going on, and also got to reap the benefits of that very intimate, sensual sort of mood.
Honestly, I think many of us start to instinctively tie in such a way as to take advantage of music over time. I recall starting to do that as soon as I’d gotten some of the patterns of the ties automated.
But now, being more aware of it, and actually using what I’ve learned in dance, I’m finding that combining those movements and that deliberate syncing with the song to be super powerful in really adding to the rope scenes that I’ve been doing.
Even when some of the technicals of the tie haven’t been that great, the overall mood, intimacy, and interaction of the rope tying have been greatly enhanced, really adding to the enjoyment of both myself and my rope partners.
So my suggestion for you today is to try this yourself.
Once you’ve mastered a few rope ties to the point where you can tie them pretty much automatically, knowing the pattern off by heart, select some songs with the mood you want to inspire, and then start tying in such a way as to be syncing some of your movements to the song, and tie to the music.
I’ll be fascinated to hear your results.
Great idea to incorporate music and movement in rope activities. I usually have more spa type music playing. I’m sure going to try more exotic dancer type tunes.
Thanks
Walter
